I use Interlinguality to describe a group of projects and activities that I have developed through teaching and emerging research. Together, they explore the role of language and multilingual writing in shaping individual experiences, identities, and society at large.
- OVERSEAS STUDENTS AND THE ASIAN PACIFIC WORLD
This umbrella project explores the lives, writings, and experiences of students from Asia who came to study in North America during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. I have been teaching a series of courses centered on this theme, through which my students and I continuously make new discoveries.

- CHINESE IN MONTREAL RESEARCH GROUP
This is an informal research group comprising scholars and students at McGill and other universities in Montreal. Here, “Chinese” refers not only to Chinese people, but also to the Chinese language and Chinese culture as they have existed and evolved in the greater Montreal area since the nineteenth century. The group is currently developing into a more formal network connecting scholars, students, and community practitioners.
Sample Projects:
Translation for JIA Foundation (2026)
Group members have collaborated on translations for exhibitions and other cultural projects hosted by the JIA Foundation. These projects involve translation across English, French, and Chinese (both traditional and simplified), while also requiring historical research on Chinese immigrant communities in Montreal. Participants include McGill faculty members, graduate and undergraduate students, alumni, as well as students affiliated with Université de Montréal and other institutes across Canada.
